JUNE 16, 1976 AFTER 36 YEARS…

By 756freelance.co.za

ONCE AGAIN IN CAPE TOWN!!!

–          On the 16th June in the City Youth in Action expo at the  Artscape Theatre as we were continuing to encourage youth uprising as there was also 36 years ago, on the which the celebration started on the day before, on the 16th 2012 it marked the 551 days since Joe Larry was released from Douglas Correctional Centre. Life in the Cape Flats hasn’t been easy for; poverty got ridiculous with him, which he got caught up in drugs and gangsterism.

LETS START!!!

–          He told the youth on the day that having no role models to look up to played a role in his misery. Which he started by petty crime stealing bread and cheese to feed his family. Then moved up to house breaking.

TAKING A U-TURN.

–          One day he had a dream singing in front 150 thousand audience and they were all shouting his name and he woke up and realised it was just a dream, but just a powerful dream because it left a feeling in his heart. That’s when he started to pay close attention to the life he was living and found that it was better to hand himself to the police and he was sent to prison, drugs and gangsterism were just no better.

GETTING POWERED!!!

–          He was sentenced to five years and six months in prison in February 2008. He said with the time he had in prison he started composing songs. He composed about 40 songs in about two and half years he spent in prison. His first album with five songs, produced by Aaron Turest – Swartz (founder of Freshlyground) from QCT music was recorded in his prison cell and it was released in December 2010, the day he was released out of prison.

 TAKING POINTS

–          At the youth day he performed songs from his latest album and the last song he performed for us was in Spanish, that’s when the FIFA world cup feeling rushed back to me, which that was a spirit I intended to carry for the day. I was wearing my world cup T-Shirt under my track suit but slipped my mind as I was so occupied by present setting of the event. As Joe Larry told us that he is closing with a Spanish song, I felt a big finger pointing at me and, that’s when I quickly worn off the track suit I was wearing, it just felt on cord and in people’s eyes I saw adoration, feeling it again was just wonderful.

THAT’S PERFECT!!!

 >>>

THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER.

–          The youth who volunteered to make the FIFA world cup a success it was, we should not let apartheid darkness take all the shine in the expense of great things we achieved and other important things young people of our time continue doing. There just a lot of great young people to look up to and celebrate we just need to get involved.

SOUTH AFRICA GREAT AS A WORLD STAGE!

–          Even thou on the finals I was favouring Netherlands (because I had this sound calculation that Ajax Amsterdam + Ajax Cape Town + Independent Cape Town = respect of individuals spaces), What can I say, it does matter that Spain against third time finalist Netherlands 1-0 with a 116th minute goal by Andrew Iniesta took the 19th world cup tournament, first on the African soil and first world cup title for Spain, we need to acknowledge it fully, come on this is South Africa where it all happened.

LINKING OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD LETS GO AROUND!

–          Now how do you feel Uruguay which was lost to Netherlands on the semi finals and got forth place on the world cup.

Uruguay is set to introduce legislation allowing the state to sell and distribute marijuana, a first in Latin America. The measure was one of 15 measures to fight crime presented by President Jose Mujica’s administration.

The goal was for “strict state control over the distribution and production” of cannabis, said Defence Minister Eleuterio Fernandez Huidobro. The government will also urge that marijuana sales be legalised worldwide, Huidobro said, adding the measure could discourage the use of so-called hard drugs.

Marijuana consumption is already legal in Uruguay.

SAME TIME ABOUT CAPE TOWN YOUTH DAY AGAIN.

–          As I got sank and eager for what the day had to offer, and I was not disappointed. The Youth day was filled with fun and celebration, with speeches by the mayor and junior mayor, young people danced, sang and joked, the audience enjoyed the featured talent show.

LETS CRACK IT!!!

–          Patricia De Lille on the day was just ordinary and hanging around and hugging young people, it was just a great day she just humbled me.

–          The Junior City Council Mayor Thandokazi Sineke, 16, was great she told the young people to stay away from drugs and crime and be involved in improving their lives and Cape Town and be involved in developmental programmes.

KEEP GOING ITS ABOUT TO FINISH!!!

–          As there was also talent show for Cape Town teenagers, we had June 16, 2012 winners; Judges included Hendrick Gronjeer from 7th de laan as Lukas Mulder and others. With Dalen Making jokes about girls living in the vicinity of UCT, saying they don’t say futsek to chase birds they say shoe, shoe!!! He was just hilarious I wish he had more time.

–          Winners included Dalen, Anna, etc. After that we were entertained by the best of Cape Town music scene, like The Ruffest, Mr Cat and the Jackal, Black Kurrent, and Trenton and Free Radical.

TAKE IT, THE VICTORY IS OURS EVEN AFTER 36 YEARS!

In the UEFA EURO 2012 final match at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, Spain defended their title with a 4–0 win over Italy. Spain became the first team to win two consecutive European Championships, and the first European international team to win three straight major tournament titles (Euro 2008 and 2010 World Cup).[2] Since Spain had already gained entry to the 2013 Confederations Cup by winning the 2010 World Cup, the runners-up Italy qualified.

— Spain Jersey number 6, Andrés Iniesta was named the Player of the Tournament.

CONGRACULATIONS, Because of you playing the cool game more young people have a role model to look up to. Now they have a reason to stay positive and away from crime and drugs. Please keep the light shining so that more youth can get involved on programmes that’s favourable to them.

THANK YOU A LOT FOR KEEPING YOUTH SPIRIT FOR THE BETTER !!!
